Engraved Pathway Bricks for Donations to the Virmond County Park Staircase Construction Project

The Department is continuing to raise funds for the stairway. The initial fundraising goal, $30,000, has been reached; however, significant additional funding is needed due to necessary changes in the stairway design throughout the construction process. Thank you for your support and interest in helping with this incredible project!

Donors who gift $100 or more may choose to have an 8” x 4” brick engraved with a message of their choice which will be incorporated in the new permanent path leading to the stairway. Donations of $250 or more may engrave an 8”x8” brick.

IMPORTANT: Brick wording decided upon after October 1st, 2023 will likely not be placed into the pathway until 2024.

The 8" x 4" bricks can fit 3 lines and 16 characters per line including spaces. The 8" x 8" bricks can fit 6 lines and 16 characters per line including spaces.

Memorial Park Benches

Purchase a memorial bench with a custom plaque in memory of a loved one. Benches can be placed at an Ozaukee County Park, Ozaukee County Golf Course, or along the Ozaukee Interurban Trail.

Memorial Bench with Plaque $5000 – At Lion’s Den, Virmond County Park, and Clay Bluffs Cedar Gorge Nature Preserve

Memorial Bench with Plaque $2500 – At Hawthorne Hills County Park, Ehlers County Park, Waubedonia, Tendick, Covered Bridge, and Little Menomonee River Fish and Wildlife Preserve

Plaques will measure 3” x 8.25” and the style will be raised bronze wording with a recessed black plaque. You may choose whether or not to have a border.

Memorial Trees

Purchase a memorial tree with a custom plaque to be planted in memory of a loved one. Trees can be planted at an Ozaukee County Park or Ozaukee County Golf Course. 

Memorial Tree with Plaque: $700

Plaques will be displayed at park kiosks. At Hawthorne Hills or Mee-Kwon Golf Course, the plaque will be placed in a showcase inside the clubhouse.

Memorial Trees are planted in the spring and fall. The County offers a wide variety of trees available to purchase; however, availability is dependent upon our nursery supplier and subject to change both seasonally and annually. For this reason, we request you list a minimum of two desired species on the application. See list of available tree species here.

The Department is currently working on creating maps to show the placement of memorial trees and benches at each park. Those who have previously purchased benches or trees will be notified of the exact GPS location once the project is completed.
