Rabies is a fatal viral infection of the central nervous system of warm-blooded animals, including humans.
Frequently asked questions are available regarding animal bites and rabies.
If an unvaccinated dog or cat bites someone, an officer will order that the animal be quarantined for a period of at least 10 days after the bite.
Vaccinated dogs and cats may be quarantined on the premises of the owner.
