Baseball in Waubeka

Calling all local history buffs! We need some help solving an historical puzzle.

About six weeks ago, a carefully wrapped package arrived at Pioneer Village addressed to me. I didn’t recognize the name of the sender (Peter Hyland) or the return address. When I opened the package, I was surprised to find a complete baseball uniform for a Waubeka team dating from the early 1900s. The uniform included cap, socks, and belt. All items were clean, neatly folded and in close to mint condition.

The uniform in now at the Archives and we are looking for information about that uniform, team members, a picture, its record and its history. Please help us find the history of the uniform to complete a display that can be used at the Archive, at Pioneer Village and at local libraries. If you have any information, please email OCHS President Mary Sayner at mcsayner@yahoo.com or OCHS archivist Ruth Renz at rrenz47043@AOL.com. You can also call the Archives at (262) 377-4510.

Thanks for your help!
