Proclamation

Whereas, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has gifted the City of Port Washington with the Watch Room, Parapet and Rail, and Lantern Room now atop the Light Station in tribute of the Luxembourg people who settled in this area and to those Americans who helped liberate Luxembourg during World War II; and

Whereas, the citizens of Luxembourg have honored us by presenting Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA with this generous gift and extending their message of international peace and friendship; and

Whereas, there has always been a spirit of respect and affection between the citizens of the United States and the citizens of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg;

Therefore, I, Gustav W. Wirth, Jr., Chairperson of the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors, do proclaim

June 16, 2002 as
Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA – The Country of Luxembourg
Friendship Day in Ozaukee County

And commend this observance to all citizens.
