Ozaukee County Wisconsin - History - Hilgen-Wittenberg Dam

Some time ago, the Waubeka Dam was featured on the County Web Site and it was indicated that other County Dams would be featured over time. The Woolen Mill Dam, known as the Hilgen-Wittenberg Dam, is located adjacent to the east side of the Cedar creek settlement. This dam serviced the Hilgen-Wittenberg Woolen Mill which is now known as the Cedar Creek Settlement. In the 1940's the upper level of the dam was used for swimming. Contaminated water caused the swimming area to be closed. A new pool was then built on Evergreen Blvd.
