The countys two IBM iSeries mainframe computer systems supply information that is utilized by all county offices as well as citizens of Ozaukee County. Our programmers and analysts develop and maintain custom applications such as:
Staff also support and maintain two very large third party applications. The JDEdwards General Accounting system, which is accessible to every department in the county, and the HTE Public Safety system, which is the dispatching and record keeping system used by the Ozaukee County Sheriffs department and Mequon Police Department. Our PC technicians are responsible for the connectivity and support of all computer equipment throughout Ozaukee County. This includes evaluation, installation, configuration and support of all hardware and software. Our staff will also act as technical liaisons between users and hardware/software vendors. Employees can call our helpdesk and get assistance on hardware or software questions. Our staff also provides recommendations to user departments on future purchases of all computer hardware and software. Recommendations are made to user departments regarding the best equipment for departments computing needs. We will also assist users with pricing information for budgeting purposes. Functioning as an Internet Service Provider for Ozaukee County employees, users can access the Internet using their network computers. We also maintain a local Email Server to provide email service to all employees and county board supervisors. Internet access is made available to allow employees to more effectively communicate with other local, county and state agencies. The Technology Resources department hosts the Ozaukee County web site. Internet and Email services are available to
municipalities within Ozaukee County. Using Ozaukee County’s
Internet and Email Servers, these offices will no longer need to
purchase Internet and email services. Network Administration is provided to all Ozaukee County facilities. Network resources are available 7 days per week and 24 hours per day. Ozaukee County’s network allows all users to communicate with each other using shared network drives, email and via the Internet. We currently support more than 400 network users on over 300 network devices. Technology Resources also supports a wide area network that provides free network access to the municipalities located within Ozaukee County. This access not only provides email and Internet service to these offices, but we also assist these offices with the configuration of their hardware and software. Our staff will also provide training and technical support to all participating offices. Our Helpdesk will also be a service offered to the municipalities for technical support issues regarding email and the Internet. Programmers provide PC based database application development to Ozaukee County departments. This information is developed to assist users with information that can be maintained within the user departments. Programming enhancements to these applications are provided by the programming staff. Our staff also
provides support to departments
purchasing third-party database
software. Staff programmers will act
as technical liaisons between user
departments and vendors to handle
installation and upgrades. Information is available on-line to the public with the use of "Remote Access". This data is available for inquiries only. Remote access is a service provided to non-county employees to access information stored on the iSeries, such as:
Users must supply their own computer hardware and modem, however, software for terminal emulation is provided by the Technology Resources Department. For more information regarding "Remote Access", please contact the Technology Resources Department at 262/284-8309. PC Technicians provide training on the use of county computer software. Training is offered one-on-one or in a classroom environment. Training offered includes:
Classroom training is available to employees
of any Ozaukee County municipality. Purchase of the training
documentation will be required. Software training to the
municipalities will be a free service of the Technology
Resources Department. Our Radio Technicians are a resource line between telephones, voicemail and radio vendors. The telephone/voicemail responsibilities include setup and maintenance for all Ozaukee County locations. Support for the county’s 800 MHz trunking radio system includes vendor interface for purchases and services for dispatch consoles, hand-held portables and mobile data computers in the Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center.
