Ozaukee County and
14 cities, villages, and towns are working to cooperatively prepare a
multi-jurisdictional County comprehensive plan. Each city, village, and
town will also complete or update its own local comprehensive plan as
part of the cooperative process. A countywide public opinion
survey has been conducted as part of the planning effort. This was the
first countywide survey conducted by Ozaukee County on planning and
development issues. Opinions expressed through participation in the
survey will help guide preparation of the Ozaukee County comprehensive
plan. The survey is one of several public participation tools being used
to gain citizen input during the comprehensive planning process.
The survey
includes a wide range of questions from planning and development topics
such as housing, transportation, agricultural and natural resources,
land use, and economic development.
The University of
Wisconsin – Milwaukee Center for Urban Initiatives and Research (CUIR)
conducted the survey on behalf of the County. A random sample of 406
households throughout the County was contacted by telephone during the
month of March 2005. The survey sample is statistically significant with
a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of +/- 4.83%.
Results of the
survey are documented in a report produced by the UWM - CUIR staff with
the assistance from the Ozaukee County Comprehensive Planning Citizen
Advisory Committee, Ozaukee County Smart Growth Committee, the
Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, University of
Wisconsin – Extension Ozaukee County, and the Ozaukee County Planning,
Resources and Land Management Department staff. The report includes
descriptive statistics, narrative, and a summary.
Additional
community telephone surveys were also conducted by UWM in May 2005.
These community surveys included questions specific to the eight cities,
villages, and towns that chose to conduct a community telephone survey.
Those communities that chose not to conduct a community survey had
recently conducted, or plan to conduct, their own local survey.
Copies of these
survey reports are available on this web page and at the Ozaukee County
Planning, Resources, and Land Management Department located in the
County Administration Center, at all public libraries in the County, and
at the municipal halls in the 14 cities, villages, and towns
participating in the cooperative planning process. |
