PRIVATE WELL TEST & SCREEN SERVICES

Private well owners have the responsibility to maintain their water well and well equipment.   When doing so, property owners will be insuring the safe drinking condition of their well water.  The Health Department offers a number of low cost options for persons interested in testing or screening their well water.

NITRATE & FLUORIDE SCREEN: These screenings are performed at the Health Department. Property owners can bring a 6 oz. sample of their water in a clean container and Health Department staff will screen it for nitrates and/or fluoride using diagnostic equipment.  If the nitrate screening result warrants verification, we recommend follow up testing below.  Most well water in Ozaukee County is deficient in fluoride, so screening generally is sufficient. Cost $8/each

WELL WATER TESTS:  The Health Department has water test kits available for the tests listed below. Kits can be mailed for $2.50 each extra.  Prices vary according to test selection. Analysis for all water tests are completed by certified laboratories.  Laboratories send the results directly to the client.
