The Mission of the Ozaukee County Public
Health Department is to prevent disease and to promote and protect the
safety and health of all county residents. |
| Home-schooled children are eligible to receive the same services as
children attending private or public schools. Clinics are usually held in
the spring. Information about immunizations, lead screening, parenting and
community resources are also provided. Parents may call the Public Health
Department to arrange for an appointment. |
Screening Services: Hearing, Vision, Scoliosis – Please call the Health
Department to schedule a screening
Other services: Public
Health Nurses may conduct:
Health Services:
- Participate in review and
update of the health services and emergency care procedures
along with school designee(s) and medical advisor.
- Act as consultant on development of policies and
procedures related to health concerns
to the school population.
Head lice:
- Train Volunteers and
school staff for "head lice checks".
- Consult with parents and
staff who have questions about lice control.
Communicable Disease Prevention:

·Take measures to prevent, suppress and control the spread
of a reportable
communicable disease.

Act as a consultant to
students, staff, and parents for communicable disease control.
Health Education:
"When to Keep Your Child Home" and
"Common Communicable Diseases".
Immunizations:
- Act as a resource person
to staff, students and parents.

Offer immunizations to staff (ie. Tetanus, Hepatitis B.,
Flu, Pneumonia,
TB skin test)
