RADON

Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers in the United States. Radon gas can be found in all homes in Wisconsin and if levels are high, should be vented out by a professional radon contractor. Information on how to test your home for radon is available from the health department along with easy to use radon test kits. Charcoal Radon Test Kits are available for purchase from the Ozaukee County Public Health Department. Send a check for $8.00 to the Ozaukee County Public Health Department, 121 W. Main Street, Port Washington, WI 53074 and we will mail you a kit. If you pick up a kit at the Public Health Department the cost is $6.00. The Health Department is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Call 888-lowradon (1-888-569-7236) toll free to reach the Ozaukee/Washington Radon Information Center located at the Washington County Health Department.
