Ozaukee County Rescue Boat
The Rescue Boat is a 42-foot boat owned by Ozaukee County and part of the Emergency Management Division. The boat is docked at the Port Washington Marina and is in service during the boating season. It is supervised by a Captain and two Lieutenants, each completing requirements specific to their position. The unit's patrol area covers approximately 900 square statute miles during normal operations.
Missions
- To provide marine search and rescue capability on the waters of Lake Michigan adjacent to Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.
- To provide a limited law enforcement capability on the Lake.
- To cooperate with federal, state and local government agencies within the capabilities and limitations of available equipment and trained personnel.
This mission encompasses all elements of marine search & rescue and law enforcement when the Rescue Boat is operating under the direction & authority of such an agency.
