In-depth assistance provided on an individual basis to Ozaukee County residents age 60 and over who have questions or problems with public or private benefits such as Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance, pensions, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Social Security. Help is also available for other consumer issues. Offers monthly Retirement 101 workshop covering common questions.

Lawyer Referral & Information Service


Provisions


A statewide reference service that refers people in need of legal services to an attorney in their geographic area. Designed for persons who can afford private attorney services but do not know whom to call. When appropriate, referral to other community agencies or information is provided. Free information is provided for law-related questions every Wednesday evening from 5 - 7:00 p.m.

Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc.


Services


The Legal Action of Wisconsin offers free legal assistance for low-income people in certain civil matter; i.e., landlord/tenant, public benefits, education, some family law (including divorce, visitation, and custody issues), housing issues, disability income issues. People must be financially eligible and present no conflict of interest for services; therefore, a screening process is required before any appointment can be made.

Modest Means Referral Service


Services


Clients whose income is too high to qualify for free legal services but too low to pay an attorney’s regular fees can apply for a referral to an attorney who has agreed to reduce their fees for representation.

Office of Crime Victim Services


Services


The Office of Crime Victim Services serves the needs of crime victims in Wisconsin by administering a compensation program that assists victims with out-of-pocket expenses related to medical, counseling, and lost wages. The Victim Resource Center also assists victims to understand their rights with the Wisconsin Judicial and Law Enforcement organizations in the State of Wisconsin.
