Budget Process

Ozaukee County's fiscal year follows the calendar year.  The County Board of Supervisors formally adopts an annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year at the first meeting in November.  Ozaukee County Citizens have an opportunity to provide feedback on the budget and their priorities before formal adoption.  The budget process starts in late spring with an assessment of capital requests and an update to the salary and benefits budget for each department.  In the summer departments submit their budget requests to the Department of Administration for initial consideration and analysis.  County departments meet with their respective oversight committees in August to receive feedback.  The County Administrator presents a proposed budget for consideration by the County Board of Supervisors in late September.  The proposed budget calendar is attached.
