Below are the steps you need to follow to take care of your citation if you have been issued a citation by one of the following agencies:
  • Department of Natural Resources
  • Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department
  • Wisconsin State Patrol
If you have been issued a citation by any other police or sheriff's department, you need to contact that department to find out how to take care of your citation.

Pleas
No Contest or Guilty
If you do not wish to contest your citation, fill out the form provided to you at the time the citation was issued. Mark guilty or no contest on the form and mail it to:
Ozaukee county Circuit Court
P.O. Box 994
1201 S. Spring St.
Port Washington, WI 53074
If you are required to appear in court, or if you wish to appear in court to plead guilty or no contest before the Court Commissioner, you must appear at the location on the date and time noted on your citation. Your payment must be received on or before the court date noted on your citation. If you fail to pay your citation by the court date and do not appear for court, the court will enter a no contest plea on your behalf (the default judgment). View payment information online.

Not Guilty
If you enter a plea of not guilty, your case will be scheduled for a pretrial conference with the prosecuting attorney. If the case is not resolved at the pretrial conference, the case will then be scheduled for a trial to the court. Be advised that if you plead not guilty, your case will not be heard at the initial court date that was written on your citation; instead, you will be given a new court date. All pretrial conferences are mandatory court appearances.

To plead not guilty, you need to do 1 of the following:
  • Fill out and print the Entry of Plea, or use the one that was given to you at the time the citation was issued. Mark not guilty on the form and mail it to:
    Ozaukee County Circuit Court
    P.O. Box 994
    1201 S. Spring St.
    Port Washington, WI 53074
If you would rather fax the form directly to court, the fax number is 262-284-8491. This form must be received prior to the court date written on your citation.
  • Appear at the following location on the date and time written on your citation:

    1201 S. Spring St.
    Room 231
