Obesity

"59% of Ozaukee County Residents are Overweight or Obese."

The CDC reports that during the past 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States and rates remain high. More than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.

The same holds true for Ozaukee County. At least 59% of Ozaukee County adult residents are overweight and 26% of adults are obese.

The INVEST Obesity Action Team is working to reduce obesity  rates in Ozaukee County residents by:
  • Building community awareness of healthy behaviors related to nutrition and exercise.
  • Supporting healthy school policies for employees and students that include access to fresh foods and physical activity.
